How to Download Reddit Videos
Figuring out how to download Reddit videos can be frustrating because Reddit does not make it easy. There is no save button, and the video format Reddit uses separates audio from video. Here is how to do it properly so you get the full video with sound.
Features
Step 1: Find the Reddit post with the video you want to save
Step 2: Copy the post URL from your browser or the Share button in the Reddit app
Step 3: Paste the URL into ClipRip
Step 4: Click download and save the MP4 file to your device
Works on desktop browsers, iPhone, Android, and tablets
Audio is automatically merged into the video file
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can I not just right-click and save Reddit videos?
Reddit uses DASH streaming, which serves video and audio as separate files. Your browser plays them together, but there is no single file to right-click and save. You need a tool like ClipRip that combines both streams into one downloadable file.
How do I get the Reddit video link on mobile?
Open the Reddit app, find the video post, and tap the Share button (the arrow icon). Then tap Copy Link. This gives you the URL you need to paste into ClipRip.
The video downloaded but there is no audio. What happened?
Some Reddit posts genuinely have no audio. The poster may have uploaded a silent video or a GIF that Reddit converted to video format. If the original post plays with sound on Reddit, ClipRip will include the audio. If it is silent on Reddit, the download will be silent too.
Can I download videos from Reddit on my iPhone?
Yes. Open Safari (or any browser), go to ClipRip, paste the Reddit link, and download. The video saves to your Files app. From there you can save it to your camera roll or share it anywhere.
Do I need a Reddit account to download videos?
No. As long as the Reddit post is public (not in a private subreddit), you do not need a Reddit account. Just grab the URL and use ClipRip.
What about Reddit videos hosted on external sites?
If a Reddit post links to a YouTube video, Streamable clip, or other external host, you would use the appropriate downloader for that platform. ClipRip handles the native Reddit video player (v.redd.it hosted content).
